Cannon comes back for Moore

Zander Cannon's rough layout with Todd Klein's lettering

Top 10 lives! I haven't read any official announcement for "Top 10 season 2" but artist Gene Ha states, "I've started work on writer [and layout artist] Zander Cannon's new Top 10 series. My run will be at least four issues." Letterer Todd Klein confirms that it's been in the works since 2006 on his blog. This is exciting stuff- I'm glad to hear that the original team is back working on the book (sans Alan Moore, of course).

I never read it but the Top 10 mini-series without the original creative team always seemed a bit sacrilegious to me.

TOP 10 SEASON TWO #3 (OF 4), art by Gene Ha
Update 09.21.08- Thanks to Gene Ha for directing me to the DC comics page for Top 10 season 2! Can't wait for October 1st! I'm still stunned that a bigger deal hasn't been made yet...

Dr. No likenesses

Mitchell Hooks remembers his art direction for the first James Bond movie poster.
"Yeah, it's actually kind of funny: I don't think they had any idea at the time just what a valuable property they had. They actually said to me, 'Don't worry too much about likenesses on this one -- this just has a couple of unknown actors [Sean Connery and Ursula Andress] from England in it' !"
More from Mitch at Today's Inspiration- a blog that really lives up to its name.

All good things must come to an end

All Star Superman #12, art by Frank Quitely
Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's run on "All Star Superman" ended yesterday with the release of 12 issue. This series does for Superman what Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" did for Batman - it shows everyone how the character should be done while telling a great final adventure story.

This series was the first time I've read comics that felt like instant classics, not as a result of some gimmick or stunt, but based on the power of the storytelling alone.

Thanks, Grant. Thanks, Frank.

Well done.

Official Bachalo Site!

Look- a Chris Bachalo website! But...is it official? "Yes, it's a website with my name on it, authorized by me, owned by me (I think) and hosted by me," Bachalo assures. The fan favorite X-men artist launched the site at the end of July.
